Noura Debbouche Self-taught Artist
Welcome to my artistic world and my biography.
Hello! Of Canadian nationality. I was born in Algeria in 1973. The Lord God honored me with artistic talent. I did not enter schools of fine arts in order to learn how to sketch a circle, or how to sketch a human face, or how to mix oil colors. Therefore, I hope that you will not ask me about my artistic degrees, because I don't need fine art schools in order to learn how to draw or how to mix colors!
I started drawing at the age of 5 years and I knew very well what I was doing, like the primitive man when he created beautiful drawings on the walls of caves in ages when fine art schools did not exist.
My first source of inspiration at the beginning of my life was the farm of my grandparents my mother's parents, where there were mountains adorned with Indian fig trees, wild berries, some kinds of medicinal plants, natural springs forming water wells with such a pure taste, vast land, a large field of fruit trees, vegetables, flocks of sheep, various wild and domestic birds.
And how wonderful it was to hear the rush of water from the river flowing through my grandparents farm, it is called Wadi Al-Sharif, and there were different species of pretty little fish and we were young, we swam with them admiring their beauty. And pine trees along the side of the river.
And I remember very well when I fell in love with a little chicken because of the beauty of the different colors of its feathers and I took it with me at the end of our summer vacation.
I am an independent artist painter, my experience is extensive in my artistic field and in all my paintings I put my heart, my soul and my fingerprints because I have been using my fingers to paint since I was very young and I am proud of it.
I worked on surrealism, cubism, abstraction, impressionism, decorative art...I use different techniques to paint my paintings: oil colors, acrylic, sand, modeling clay, mixtures of techniques, charcoal, collage, shells, pebbles and pieces of glass found by the sea.
I participated in several exhibitions in Jordan in 2002 and 2003. I was a member of the Jordanian Syndicate of Plastic Arts in 2002.
